At a time when the health emergency demands rapid, efficient and humane responses, the Ecuadorian industry has shown that it is up to the challenge. From the April 1, CIAUTO and Ambacar in Ecuador, with the support of SEAT and Protofy.XYZ of Spain, together with the Breathe Ecuador, joined forces to develop and manufacture emergency mechanical ventilators to help save lives during the COVID-19 crisis.

What is OxyGEN-IP and why is it vital for Ecuador?
Open source technology in the service of healthcare
The device OxyGEN-IP is an emergency mechanical respirator, designed under the model of open hardware. This means that any person or entity can have access to the drawings, specifications and technical recommendations for their manufacture, provided they have the necessary technical capacity and responsibility.
This respirator was developed by Protofy.XYZ, a collaborative engineering studio based in Barcelona, Spain, in partnership with SEAT, the renowned automotive manufacturer. Its purpose was clear from the outset: to respond quickly to the global shortage of respirators during the pandemic.

OxyGEN-IP stands out for:

The Ecuadorian response was not long in coming. In only three days of intensive work, engineers from CIAUTO, automotive specialists from Ambacar, and medical and technical professionals from Breathe Ecuador succeeded in building the first working prototype of the OxyGEN-IP in the country.
